Q: I have never been to a Naturopathic Doctor, how do I know if it is right for me?

A: We offer a free 15-minute consultation, aimed to see if it is a good fit personally and professionally.  Give us a call to schedule a consultation.

Q: What can I expect at my first visit to The Source Wellness Center?

A: Initial visits last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes, during which time your practitioner will take a detailed history of your health complaints.  Based on your history, they may choose to do a physical exam, perform bodywork, or order lab work or imaging. If you have already had tests done you may choose to bring a copy of them with you. A personalized treatment plan of natural therapies will be given to you at this time, and a follow-up appointment will be scheduled based on the needs of your case.

Q: Will my Naturopath interact with other health care practitioners?

A: Yes. The various branches of medicine all have special skills to offer.  We will consult with other health care providers you are working with in addition to The Source Wellness Center to ensure the best care possible for you.

Q: What Conditions can Naturopaths treat?

A: Naturopathic doctors are general practitioners trained to treat a wide spectrum of conditions.  Please see our common conditions page for a detailed list.

Q: What is Applied Kinesiology?

A: Applied Kinesiology (AK) is a system of diagnosis using manual muscle testing along with other standard forms of diagnosis to evaluate structural, biochemical, and emotional aspects of health.  AK is a wholistic approach to determine what areas are overloaded, weak, or stressed, including the spine, joints, organs, acupuncture meridians, biochemistry, and emotions.  The most supportive therapy to correct the dysfunction will be determined.  Typical therapies include specific spinal/joint mobilization, various myofascial therapies, cranial techniques, acupuncture meridian stimulation, clinical nutrition, dietary recommendations, botanical medicines, and counseling skills.  AK is extremely useful in treating chronic conditions and acute injuries.

Q: What is The River Of Health?

A: The water at the source of a river, like optimal health and wellness, is clean, pure and pristine.  Moving down the river the water becomes more and more polluted and we see more and more signs and symptoms.  Our goal is to guide each of our patients back to the source of the river where the water and their health is optimal and pristine.

Q: Does TSWC take insurance?

A: Yes we do.  Not all insurance plans cover naturopathic care.  We recommend you contact your insurance company prior to your visit to confirm coverage of our services.  Our office assistant is happy to call to confirm benefits if you bring your insurance information to the visit. Predicted amounts not covered by insurance are due in full at the time of service.  We will bill your insurance company for the services provided, but you are responsible for any amount not covered by your policy.

Q: What type of payments do you accept?

A: The Source Wellness Center gladly accepts cash, checks, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and health insurance.  Payment is due in full at the time of the visit if not using insurance.  Amounts not paid by insurance are the patient’s responsibility to pay in full.

Q: Do you take out of town patients?

A: Yes.  We do offer appointments over the phone and Skype after an initial visit in the office.  As long as you have a primary care practitioner in your hometown, we are happy to provide this service for you.

Q: What is Skype?

A: Skype is a video conferencing computer program that allows you to see and hear the person to whom you are talking.   Skype is free to download off the internet and all Skype to Skype calls are free.  To use Skype you need a computer (with at least Windows XP or Mac OS X) with a camera and microphone.

Q: What is The Health Of Friends Program?

A: The Health Of Friends Program is a FREE program where Dr. Lou Walters of The Source Wellness Center and Dr. Amy Thomas of Thomas Family Chiropractic will come to your home to facilitate an inspiring conversation about health and lifestyle with you and your closest friends. The bonds people share with their dearest friends are more important to health than some may realize.
